A perfect day

Today was such a good day. I woke up not tired, and got to work on time. That's a big deal for me lately, just ask Brian. :-) The sun was shining, and there was a lovely breeze. I so wanted to go for a walk or something, but I knew that Steve was busy with some projects. When I got home, he sweetly said he could finish the projects later, so lets go do that Treadwell walk I've been wanting to do. I've been wanting to go there ever since Hannah first told me about it, and the pictures she had on her blog sent me over.
So into his truck we went. We ran a few errands for work first, then to Treadwell. I took lots of pictures...I know you are surprised by that. :-) Here are some. This is one of my favorites from today.

Steve got me to climb up a sorta trail to get a better picture of the waterfall. I am very afraid of heights, but I did it. Yay.

Aren't these lovely? I don't know what they are, just found them on the trail.
And these little lovelies.. just growing in the sand.

After we got back to the truck, we just drove around Douglas.. it is such a sweet, quaint town. I love it. And my Juneau, I really do love this town. I feel like I fit it so well. We ate at the Thane Ore house, yummy! Went outside and looked at the water and took more pictures. See?

We finally got home, and got to see our loud, happy dogs.
I love my sweet husband for dropping the to do list and just playing with me. I love the beautiful forest, ocean, everything God created.
Today was such a perfect day.

How about some happy flowers?

I love flowers. Steve loves tomatoes. And peas. And radishes and lettuce. Oh, and onions. He has had tomatoes growing in our big window in our room. I wasn't sure how I felt about them taking over the entire window area (it's really big), but I have decided that I am really ok with it. I get to eat all the yummy tomatoes. I had only had little cherry ones, until a few nights ago when one of the big ones was ripe. Oh my goodness.. the best tomato I have ever eaten. I offered my 2nd window to him. :-))
The peas, radishes, lettuce and onions are growing in our front yard. They are really cute. But I still like my flowers. Here are a few pictures of them.

And this last picture Steve took of me so I could send it to my Dad. I just LOVE these flowers, what are they???

memories

Memories are powerful things. They can make you happy, they can make you sad. Today while looking for some cards, I ran across an old picture of Dale. The missing him hit me so hard. The loss of our life together, the Dad my boys didn't get to grow up with. The memories of the life we had, with both the good and the bad. I tend to get a bit blue every June and early July, it just came early this year. It will be 13 years that he's been gone on July 3rd. I'm so grateful that God loves us, that He sent Jesus to die for us. That Dale is in Heaven with Him right now, and that I will see him again. What would I do without Jesus to comfort me? I'm so glad I will never have to know.

Sunny Sunday

Today was such a fun day. It was sunny. It was hot. There was church. There was God's Word taught by Bryan Hoshide. There was running around getting ready for a BBQ. There was help from Wendy Felix. There was food. YUM. There were lots of friends over. Lots of conversation. Some of my homeschool books found new homes. More conversation. Clean up and then a movie with Steve- Night at the museum... laughter. A great day. Oh, and flowers Steve picked for me. And Felix and Ezra. :-))))))

Gosh, aren't babies cute?

beauty

May has been a very nice month. We have had such a warm and sunny spring, I am so spoiled. Today is raining, and I am loving it. The wonderful smell coming in my windows is so nice. Don't get me wrong, I do want more sunny days.. I am just glad that I can still appreciate the rainy ones.
Beauty in my life comes in many forms. Here are some of them:
My oldest boy, Jacob has moved into our basement. It is so good to have him back. :-)
My Erik was at the correctional officers academy for 5 weeks, and is now back. YAY! I missed you Erik.
I would put a picture of Tim and Katie here since they make me happy, but alas, they haven't sent me any.
Instead, how about some beauty that God made? Steve and I went to Home depot and bought some flowers for the planter box he built for our mailbox. Here is a gorgeous yellow gerber daisy followed by a red one.

And here is my sweetie making me window boxes. He is a real beauty.

Now this beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... not my David, he is a beauty, but the tattoo? He loves it, I think the colors are beautiful, but it's kinda big.
I finally finished a shawl that I started over a year ago. I love it and it makes me warm at the movies...which takes me to STAR TREK! Oh my goodness, it is such a great movie. Oh, and see what it's hanging on? It's the wonderful planter box Steve made for me. I can't wait till all my gerber daisys are in bloom.
Here's my Emmy girl. Isn't she pretty? These are some pretty flowers that Steve picked me at work. I've been looking at them for over a week. Steve is such a sweet husband.
Can I have a post about beauty without yarn? No, I can't. This is "Oh what a beautiful morning"
And these came today... Rosewood, cherry blossom, and mulberry. Sharon from Three Irish Girls is a genius.
