How time flies

November 26th.... Wow, how did that happen? Last time I posted it was raining. Well, it's still raining, but time has flown by! We had Erik's 21st birthday, Miriah came home, we had Thanksgiving. My dad turned 70, I miss you Dad! And now it's time to buy a Christmas tree. !!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a potluck at church on Sunday, and one of the men there was commenting on how long it takes to get to your 18th birthday, then how it just speeds up and you're looking at 40. Well, I'm looking at 47..how did that happen?

So...tomorrow Steve and I will go buy our Christmas tree, and the boys and I will begin decorating this weekend. And my sweet Shelly turns 44 on Sunday. Miss you too Shelly! Come to Juneau!

I'm sitting upstairs in my wonderfully warm bedroom, ( I love my wood stove ), after just watching the finale of Dancing with the Stars. I've always said I despise reality shows, but this one is different. Really. :-) No, it really is, it is just plain fun.
Erik and Miriah are downstairs looking at homes for sale, and places to stay in Rome. ROME. I will soon have two married sons.. hurry up Jacob!

And now for a poll: I have found a 6 year old female sheltie who is in need of a home. She isn't Tony, she is smaller, and well, she's a girl. Should I get her?
Comment me and tell me what you think.
TA TA for now.........

rain rain go away

I want to go to Hawaii. I watch the weather channel everynight, and they have honolulu in the getaway forcast. It's sunny and 83. We get rain. Not snow, not sun, rain. And it gets dark early. ugh. At least it is Thanksgiving next week, and I will be able to put up lots and lots of Christmas lights on the weekend. And get to wear Christmas earrings. :-)
It's funny how I never want to go to Thursday night Bible Study, and how I always have a wonderful time once I get there. I love the people in my church, I am blessed to have such Godly, funny, smart, cute-ASHER, and kind folks in our fellowship.

I am going to knit. I love to knit. I have too many scarves that need to be done by Christmas..... I need to knit.

Nothing in particular

The last couple of days have been pretty much the same. It's been cold, but not too cold. Well, my office at work has been REALLY cold, but my sweet husband fixed that for me. He went and bought me a ceramic heater for my office, and it is now toasty. Thanks Steve!
I've been spending way too much time fiddling with this blog...I can't seem to get it to look just how I want. The colors aren't right, the pictures aren't right, blah blah. Enough already.. it will just have to do.
Max just came and said hi, what is it about dogs that is so wonderful? Well, except for when they get in the trash! Max is a sweetie.. I have been looking at dogs on the internet ever since Ken got his puppies. I have decided that Max needs a companion. Not just any old dog, a puppy. Then are just so cute! Erik says no way, it would just make me crazy. He of course is right, but I still look. I can be a bit obsessive at times. :-) Anyway, I'm just rambling here. The sky is blue, and it's a great day. Here's a picture of Max, and Ken's puppies Hudson and Mickey.

Mom

Today is my Mom's birthday. She is 67, but she isn't here anymore, she is in Heaven. I have been so melancholy all day, I want to call my Mom. I just want to chat about nothing in particular, I want to call her and ask her about a recipe, about how to fix something. She always had an answer for me. She was the one I could always go to, always count on. She didn't ask for much, just for me to remember her, to think about her and need her.

Mom, I still need you, I still think about you. I miss you.

Isn't yarn grand?

I love yarn. I love shopping for yarn. I love touching yarn, smelling yarn, and buying yarn. Especially at Skeins! I love looking at it on the shelf Steve built me, dreaming of what it will become. I love finding the pattern, getting out my bamboo needles, and casting on the first stitch. I love finishing something, and really love giving away a scarf. Someday I will give away something else, but for now, I love knitting scarves. This is a scarf for me, it is made with Noro Silver thaw. Isn't it grand?

First Snow

I woke up this morning to our first snow of the season. This view is from Erik's room.
I know I will eventually be tired of the snow, but the first one is so special. I find it so peaceful.

I got a surprise phone call this morning from Sue Ryan, we talked for almost an hour. It will be the highlight of my day. I miss you Sue! Oh, and you too Thor. :-) It's not the same at Church, and I miss not having your kids to take pictures of.

So I'm having a hard time getting work done around here today..the snow is distracting me. I went outside to mail Tim's birthday card (it's gonna be late, sorry Tim), and it was so quiet. The snow is fairly deep for the first one, I love it. See?

My list of things to do today is getting longer, and still here I sit. I must be productive, I must be productive.
There. I'm done for now. Tonight I will post some wonderful pictures of scarves in progress.

New to this blog thing

This is my first post, I'm used to posting pictures, but words... ugh. I have been reading tons of knitters blogs, and enjoy them. I started reading the Hoshide's blogs, I love it! I already love Bryan, Hannah and Asher, now I get to read about them several times a week.
I am really bad about writing emails to all my friends and family, maybe I will be better at this. :-)
Today was a nice sunny day... and cold. It is beginning to feel like winter here in Juneau. Church was nice, I feel blessed to have a Pastor like Brian Ewing.
Erik is writing music for his upcoming wedding to Miriah, it is beautiful. I love watching him play the piano, he is so much like Dale. I love the look on his face he gets, and the way he does his mouth when he is concentrating.
I didn't do much other than watch Erik on the piano and browse on the internet for a dog today... but I did watch football. Oh, and I had a really long talk with Tim on the phone, I miss him so.
That's about all for today, I will end with what I know best; pictures.
Ok, so my picture is at the beginning and not at the end...I will have to work on this. And the picture? It is of Erik and Miriah after they got engaged. :-))))))
