not much new

There's not much new here at the Dunivin/Peterson/Hinson household. Kelly is responding well to her insulin shots, and now that she's feeling better we're back to having 3 cats living in my room. Oh, and 2, sometimes 3 dogs. Did I mention that we are a zoo?
We had 3 beautiful warm summer days.... and are now back to fall. Since Steve, Caleb and Kate got so much wood split and stacked, I lit a fire today and made the house toasty warm.

On the knitting front, I have lots of new yarn thanks to Skeins closing the Valley store. I am so gonna miss going there on Friday's after work. I'm just gonna have to brave downtown.
Anyway, back to the yarn. My goodness I love yarn. I got some angora in delicious colors, some nice washable yarn---can you say baby stuff? I even got some oh so soft malabrigo. I am knitting Shelly a scarf right now, and have several more on needles. As soon as I get a yarn winder, I am going to start on a multicolored baby blanket for a certain junior mint. Ok, enough with the knitting talk. I started reading my Daily Bible again.. God as usual met me there. I am constantly awed by His love and grace to me.
To close, here is a picture of some flowers that are still blooming in my yard.

I saw this picture and remembered that I didn't post our Victoria, BC pictures. Here are a few:

vets and wood

Good morning on this wonderful sunny Wednesday!
It's been an interesting week so far. On Thursday, Max had his first (and hopefully last) run in with a porcupine. He ended up with about 15 or so quills in his face. We couldn't get them all, so took him to the vet on Friday....they had to put him to sleep since he wouldn't let them get at the two we could see, he ended up having 3 more in his throat. We got to add 265.00 to his rising vet costs. I'm glad we love him and that he's a great dog! The next day Kelly had to go to the vet, she ended up having a bladder infection and diabetes. Ugh. More large money spent. She won't eat, and wouldn't take her medicine, so back to the vet for a shot. Now she's hiding again, and I don't know if David got her to eat or not. I got her to eat about 8 little kibbles. Pray for her, if she doesn't eat the vet talked about a feeding tube, and there is no more vet money in the till. Just how do the vets come up with the pricing? Doesn't it seem outrageous?

On a brighter note, the sun has been out! Hurray! Rejoicing in the land!
Steve and Caleb spent all day Monday outside splitting wood. I neglected to take a picture of them splitting, but did take some of Steve and Kate stacking it yesterday. It was a HUGE stack of wood in our yard. We're curious to see just how full our wood shed will be. Last year it was completely full and we used it all and then some. Thank you Caleb and Kate for helping with the wood work.

The Olympics and old friends

Well, it's almost 11pm on Sunday, and it's been a great day. It's been a day of rain, of worship and teaching, of old sweet friends, eating :-), a musical and the Olympics.
Dave and Teri Bruce and their kids came to Juneau for a short visit. ... I so enjoyed seeing them again. We had a rainy Saturday picnic at Sandy Beach yesterday, and then got to see them at church today. Everytime I go to church I am blessed, and convicted of areas in my life I am failing.
Kate and I had lunch with the Bruce's at Sue Badilla's house, a sweet time. Shelly and I went to see Mamma Mia when I got home.. I laughed and laughed.. it was a fun time.
Now I am sitting in my chair (my teri chair) watching the Olympics. They are so amazing.. I haven't watched them in awhile, this is the year to do it again. I just watched the mens relay, and we won gold by 8/100ths of a second. WOW.
Since it is time for the award ceremony, I'm gonna post some pictures and watch. :-)
These two were from Church today, and the next ones are from our Sandy Beach potluck.

Trip to Seattle

It's a rainy Saturday here in Juneau. I'm sitting here watching the Olympics and being lazy. Thought I should update my blog.
Steve and I went to Washington state on July 31st and got home on Tuesday night. I've been busy since with work and home stuff, and am just now unpacked. We had such a great time, it was sunny and hot. Well, not Texas hot, but hot for us Alaskans. :-) Thrifty car rentals was having a special, so we upgraded to a sporty little blue convertible fro just a little more money. Oh was it worth it! It was so much fun to drive around with the top down.
We went to Pikes Market in Seattle, the first time we drove ourselves to get the lay of the land, then decided to take the city bus the next day. I'm glad we did, parking was insane. And people! I'm not used to seeing that many people anymore, it's fun to just watch them. We ate at the Market, at Lowells. There was a couple from Houston eating at the table next to us, it was fun to chat with them...loved hearing the accent. :-) We took the ferry to Whidbey Island the next day...and found another Saturday Farmers Market. It was more my style, slower paced and less people. I got a fabulous mug there. Leaving Whidbey we took another ferry to Port Townsend and drove to Port Angeles. It was such a nice drive..again with the top down. We went to Victoria, BC the next day. My oh my was it nice. We happened to be there on their 150 year anniversary, there was a huge celebration with people everywhere. They had people saving their seats at 10:00 am for fireworks that would be late that night. Concerts, food, antique fire trucks, and fun. I took tons and tons of pictures, the buildings were amazing.
We left Port Angeles and drove to Ocean shores... stopping at the Hoh rain forest on the way. Driving on the beach was so much fun, I remember when Bill and Shelly and I used to do that on Galveston Island long ago.
We had a great time, soaked up lots of sun, I got a tanned face and arms, and Steve's head got burnt. Now we're home to rain, but that's ok. It's home.
Here are some pictures. I have too many from Victoria, so I will post them later.

I love barns, and I got these pictures on Whidbey Island from the car.
I love this picture of these kids just having fun..one of the group was telling them all to jump, and he was taking their picture. So was I! :-)
