End of June cookout

Sunday was a wonderful day. Church was awesome, and the sun was out. We decided spur of the moment to grill burgers and hot dogs. All of the boy's friends were gonna go to the Broiler for burgers except for Erik and Miriah who are saving their money, so I told Erik I'd buy the meat if he would do the grilling. Deal! David started inviting people, and so did Erik. We had a nice turnout, as you can tell by the pictures. I love having people over... this cookout made me really miss the Bruces, since Trevor was here; I so loved it when they would come over after church. You too Sue and Thor! Anyway, the picture above is Izzy, wearing one of Erik's motorcycle helmets.


Kate took Micah and Izzy all around, and Micah loved the snacks. Oh, and the skyhouse was a huge hit!
Trevor, I'm so glad you are here in Juneau! I sure wish I had a daughter........... :-)
Erik and Miriah left twice to go look at apartments. The choices right now are slim, expensive, and mostly yucky. God has a place for them, they just haven't seen it yet.

I wish I had taken more pictures of the dogs, we had all three of them outside with us. They were fun. I am so glad Shelly is here. I'm gonna write another post as soon as I am done with this one about their first week here.

Walking in the forest

Steve and I went for a drive his last week off in North Douglas. We went up to Eaglecrest and stopped a couple of times to walk around. I forget how wonderfully quiet and beautiful it is in the forest. We had lots of work to do at home, but getting outside and being together is important too. I'm glad we just quit working for the day.. it was glorious outside. I am continually amazed at the intricate and beautiful world that God made for us. Just look:

I am on my last week of metal removal medicine..yay! I am so excited to get my clear head and energy back.. I am gonna go on a house cleaning and clothes washing frenzy.

On the knitting front, I have not one, not two, but 5 different scarves on my needles...and I am looking at 2 other patterns. I also have my shawl to finish and another one to start. I really need to get these finished before I cast on another..
And music... I have had 3 David Crowder cd's for along time, but hadn't gotten around to really listen to them. Today I listened to the A: collision one. WOW. It so lifted my spirits and made me just want to praise God. I haven't been listening to much music lately, it sure makes a difference in my mood.
This is going to be a clapotis.. the yarn is lorna's laces--it is so soft! I can't wait to start.
This is a feather and fan scarf with noro kureyon for Joanna. I saw the the yarn at skeins, and it just said make me for her. So I am. You must obey the yarn.

Sun, warmth and blue skies

It's been so warm, we've had the windows open, and the house smells wonderful. I love to hear all the lawn mowers, and the birds. Spring is here and I love it.

I am feeling very blessed, as we have had sunny weather for almost 3 weeks now. I could so get used to this. I took this picture of David, Erik and Miriah as they were getting ready to head out for fun in the sun.

This past weekend Steve and I went to Don Abels and bought some flowers... we spent such a wonderful day in the yard planting them. I didn't plant any last year, I can't wait to see them in full bloom.
Emmy got to come outside with us, she just ran and ran around the yard. So cute! Max didn't get to come outside, he would have run off down the road. After all that planting, I was so tired! I haven't done that much in quite awhile...so I went inside and finished Angela's baby blanket. I think it turned out quite nice. Jason and Angela brought Kayleigh wrapped in it today to church. :-))) I do so love to knit items and then give them away.


I guess that's enough for today.. tomorrow I will post about a drive Steve and I took on Wednesday.

changes

Changes. Some are good ones, some not so good. Some are exciting, some you just don't know what to expect.
We have changes coming. My Erik is going to move out soon, and will become a husband. Good changes, and exciting too. Our electric bill will show up tomorrow....bad change, although the changes we have made in conserving is good.
And for a big change that is exciting, and one we just don't know what to expect-- my sister Shelly and her three kids are moving in with us for a year or so. They are going to sell their house, and John will stay behind in Texas until they can wrap up his business. So, we have this big house, but not that many bedrooms... and we're adding 4 more people. Oh, and another dog and cat. And Gabe is still here. So, Steve is moving his workshop out of the basement and back into the garage. We can move some of the kids into the basement, and we'll put Shelly and Kate into Erik's room. It's gonna be interesting during the week before and after Erik's wedding... Tim and Katie are coming, my Dad is coming and Grandma and Grandpa Peterson are coming.. Good thing we all like each other!

I'm still plodding along on my metal removal...this puts my previous tiredness into a different perspective. I am so much more tired now...but I only have 3 or 4 weeks left. If I have to do more removal, I am going to give myself a bit of a break before starting again.

It's sunny!

Hurray!
I woke up to sunshine this morning, and it is still wonderful. We've got towels hanging outside on the line and Steve is pulling up dead plants. Could this be spring finally? I am so ready to go outside and plant some flowers.
I'm looking forward to Sunday, Steve and I are gonna have a date. We're eating at Wildspice and going to see Iron man.

So it's May. I keep meaning to post, but I just don't seem to get around to it.
The last time I posted I had only been home for awhile, and was getting ready to start another round of metal removal. It's not been fun. I do have the flu like symptoms, and extreme fatigue. Dr. Huffman said it was harder on the body to take oral pills instead of chelation, I think I agree. My house is a wreck, and I only have energy for a little bit 2 days a week. I still have 3 or 4 weeks to go.. and then I retest. If I still have arsenic, then I get to continue on with treatment. I'm praying it will all be gone, I want to get back to my life.

We've had a cold spring, but we did have a nice 10 day stretch of sun and warmth. I hope we have a hot summer!

Miriah graduates from Calvary Bible College this month, and comes home. I sure miss her! Not too much longer and she becomes my 2nd daughter in law. Miriah Peterson... sounds wonderful!!!
Erik bought a scooter today, he loves it. I have to tuck my motorcycle fears away. . . I'll just pray alot!
Anything else?????? I'm knitting a baby blanket, a gorgeous scarf for me, and still plodding away on my shawl.
oh duh.. the other new thing, the high electricity bill to come. I'm dreading our first bill, although we have been conserving. Less tv, less lights, less everything. It will still be terrible though.
That's about it. I am gonna take my camera to church on Sunday, I need an Asher fix. Oh, and Angela and Jason's new little girl Kayleigh.

Can it really be April already??

My goodness, how time flies.
I have been back from Homer since the middle of March, and now it's April 10th. I don't like April...it's yucky tax time. Oh well.

And it's been snowing! I want spring. We did have a lovely taste of spring two weeks ago.. Steve and I went for a nice long walk on the trail behind the airport.. it was so nice. Blue skies, geece, dogs and quite the breeze. I was glad to have brought a sweater.

Now for some updates.
Gabe Wilford is staying with us for awhile.. Max (our dog) had to have knee surgery.. you really don't want to know how expensive that was! He is healing, but can't ever go for runs with Brian Felix again. Emmy was spayed, David was made the manager at Starbucks, Erik and Miriah chose their honeymoon location, and their wedding date.... July 19th. Oh, and I finished my lead chelation treatments in Homer, and got my metal testing results back. More on that later.

My time in Homer was relaxing and good for me. I got to do nothing but rest and have quiet time, which was good since I had no idea how tired those treatments were going to make me. I watched lots of the Food network and came home with great ideas. Steve came up and spent the last 2 days with me in Homer.. we ate at two wonderful resturants- Fat Olives and Cups. Oh my gosh, the food was amazing. And yes, I ate dairy. Yum. We drove out to the Spit and took pictures of the beach-it was so nice that day.
This isn't the spit, it's the view of the spit from just outside of town. And this next picture is of Anchor Point.
These are on the spit, and this next picture is Steve and I. I love the sound and smells of the ocean. It was a nice end to my Homer time.
Then it was back to the usual grind of being home with 3 boys, 2 dogs, 3 cats, fish and birds and a messy house. Oh, and rain and snow. But it is Juneau, and it's my home.

Metal testing. Ugh.
My original metal testing was with a pill as a binding agent, and the one I had in Homer was a very accurate IV one. My doctor called me with the results and told me that good news, the lead is gone! Yea, rejoicing. Then he said do you want the bad news?? huh? Turns out, I have mercury and arsenic poisoning. The previous test didn't pick them up. The chelation therapy I had in Homer did remove some of the arsenic, but apparently I have lots and lots of it, so I will need more chelation sometime. The mercury is removed differently, so he is sending me pills to take for 6 weeks. Lovely flu like symptoms are predicted. BUT, when the mercury is gone, I can begin to fix my thyroid, then work on the arsenic.

I was quite discouraged when I got the news, but God is in control. I will just continue to do the next thing. At least we now know what all has been causing my troubles.
