This and that

It's Sunday around 11:15am, and I'm sitting here in my chair. I am sick yet again, (after never getting sick, I have been sick 2 times in the last month!), this time with strep throat. I sure hope no one else gets this, especially Steve since we are going out of town on Thursday.
My house is quiet, and it's raining outside. Yesterday afternoon the sun came out, and it was actually nice for a little while. This was the first time it has been nice since Erik and Miriah's wedding. Steve told me that it's not just Juneau that is cold, Anchorage has had it's coldest summer in a long time also. I hope winter isn't just rain, at least when it snows it is pretty. We've lit a fire in our wood stove twice in July, isn't that crazy?! But on the other hand, I am so thankful to have one to make our home dry and warm.

Erik Mason left last night for Costa Rica, we will miss you Erik! My Erik and Miriah will be coming home from their honeymoon on Tuesday or Wednesday. And then Steve and I are going to Seattle thanks to free tickets from Karla. I have never been to any part of Seattle other than the airport, I'm really looking forward to it.
I think that's about it for updates for now. I want to go and knit. Here are a few more pictures from the wedding.
I love having a big family, I just wish we could have all been there. We are missing Ed, Bill, Donna and their kids, John, and my Mom, Dale and brother Mike who are in Heaven.

Janet and her camera

David Nash took my camera and got pictures of the guys getting ready for the wedding, then graciously took tons of pictures for me so I could just enjoy the wedding. Thank you David! I took back my camera and snapped this one of him and Karla.

Erik and Miriah Peterson

Well, my boy Erik married Miriah on Saturday. It was a wonderful day, preceded by a great week. We had lots of family come for the wedding; it was so good to see them all. We had the rehearsal dinner at the Waffle House, that was unusual, but so much fun. We have been praying for sunny weather ever since they got engaged, and the week before was so yucky. Rain, rain, and more rain. Friday was stormy, and Saturday morning showed the same. Since they had wanted an outdoor wedding at the Shrine, they had to have a plan B. The Chapel was plan B.
As we were driving out to the Shrine blue sky was right over it. Should we have an outdoor wedding afterall? They decided to go ahead and have it at the Chapel, even though the sun kept shining at times. It was a wonderful ceremony.
After they were pronounced husband and wife and went outside, there was sun! God stopped the storm, and gave us wonderful weather for the rest of the day. He is so amazing.
I am so blessed to have Brian Ewing as my Pastor, I wouldn't want anyone else to marry my boys.
I will post a few pictures tonight, and more later.
The groomsmen and bridesmaids were quite colorful, handsome and beautiful.. here are David, the bestman, and Karla.

Isn't she beautiful??

family

Well, my family is here. I am so happy to have them all around me again. My Dad finally made it in on Wednesday morning. He had been up since the previous morning, with only a couple of restless hours of sleep in the Anchorage airport. He made it, his suitcase didn't until right before Tim and Katie's midnight flight. Here he is, dozing with Murphy.
Kate, Shelly and I kept cleaning, right until the end. Steve got so many projects finished!
David's birthday gift came; late, but he loved it. A keyboard to use with his Mac.

Finally, after almost 2 1/2 years, my Tim is home. I was so excited! They just stood inside that walkway just saying hi as a joke to me. It's so much fun to see them together, they are just right for each other. Katie is still just as wonderful as usual.
Tim and I went into my scrapbooking/bird room to see if Blitzen remembered him....Yep.
It's a dog party! Max came around a few minutes later, but didn't make it up into anyones lap.

The last of the family to arrive, Grandma and Grandpa. Tim is such a Peterson! As I was getting out old pictures of Erik for a slideshow at the reception, I got some of Dale holding him as a newborn.. With the added beard, Tim looks amazingly like his Dad.

flying adventures

My Dad is coming to Juneau for Erik's wedding. He was supposed to be here at 8:30 this evening. Well.. he called me from Houston and said they were delayed. Then he called me later and said they were all on the plane, but they had to get off because of mechanical problems.
Later yet, he called me and said "Guess where I am" He was in Calgary, Alberta. Canada! He was laughing, and saying they couldn't get off the plane and didn't know when they would finally be in Anchorage.
So tonight at 8:15, ( 20 minutes after the last plane left for Juneau) Dad called and said he was in Anchorage. He's gonna sleep in the airport, and leave tomorrow morning at 8:00am. I'm calling him at 6am to make sure he's awake, and then going back to sleep...he'll be here at 9:45am.. ready for breakfast and a nap.
I'm pooped! We have been working so hard, and we're almost done. It's after midnight, and I'm ready for sleep.
I'm glad Dad will be here in the morning, and Tim and Katie will be here at midnight tomorrow.
Pictures tomorrow!

The first apartment

My boy has his first apartment. They signed the lease last night, and got the keys tonight at 5:30. Steve and I got to go and see it tonight... it was so much fun. Erik and Miriah love their place, they were so cute showing us around.

Erik said one of his favorite things was his coffee mug cabinet, alas, he doesn't have a coffee maker yet.
Doesn't she look happy?? Note the arch, another favorite thing they like.
I sure do love these kids. I can't wait till Saturday!

stuff

It's late on Monday morning, and I'm still sitting here at my computer. I should be up and cleaning some more, but here I sit with my coffee and list. I've been remembering Erik and my other boys as little guys. They were all so cute, ornery and unique. I've been blessed to have had 4 sons. I remember women coming up to me when they were little and saying you poor thing, you have 4 boys?! I consider myself fortunate. They weren't hard, they were fun. Exasperating at times, of course. When Tim and Katie get here on Wednesday I will have all my boys back home. I can't wait.
David is 19, Jacob is about to be 27. Where did the time go? I am so blessed to have these fine men.

There will of course be hundreds of pictures taken over the next week, but I won't post them all. :-)
Oh, on another topic, I was informed by Dr. Huffman that all of my metals are gone. ALL OF THEM! Even the arsenic, which he said would probably not respond to the pills I was taking. That is such and answer to prayer, God is so good to me.

Well, that's all for now.

David's 19th birthday

David turned 19 today. I can't believe that my little boy is grown. We had lots of his friends over and I made chicken enchiladas and spanish rice... I made 5 pans! They did turn out great, I even ate one.
It's so much fun to have all these kids come over and eat.

Conversations on the wood porch...these guys kept laughing at me when I would come and point my camera at them through the glass door. I did run around with my camera all evening.
Amy Reid... I sure wish she would move back to Juneau!Talking to Ryan... telling him to come over and eat some food.

A break from tradition.. cheesecake instead of regular cake or pear pie. The first one was David's request-chocolate espresso, and the other one is my deluxe cheesecake recipe. I haven't made this one in 13 years, it was Dale's birthday cake.

I love my boy!
